CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Ballet: These classes combine the Vaganava method of ballet with a more contemporary style. They provide the student with strength, flexibility, and control, as well as coordination, musicality, and poise.
Combo I: This class is a tap and ballet combined class, perfect for 3-4 year olds. It will introduce your little dancer to tap and ballet basics in a fun, friendly environment. This class nurtures socialization and motor skills.

Combo II: This class is designed for 5-6 year olds who are new to tap and ballet, or who progressed from Combo I. This class will cover a wider variety of basic techniques in tap and ballet, including leaps, pirouettes -
and tap combinations.
- Co. Hip Hop: By placement only, this class offers hip hop dancers, and students who have advanced beyond our beginner hip hop classes, to compete at regional and national competitions. This will be a progressive company that will train in a variety of hip hop styles.
Contemporary Ballet: Traditional ballet barre technique with application to contemporary choreography. This class is designed to teach proper technique while emphasizing the importance of body placement during movements.
Contemporary: This class encompasses a broad range of techniques and styles. Based in ballet, jazz, and modern techniques, this physically challenging class will strengthen the dancers overall technique, flexibility, style, and performace quality.
Gymnastics: With our sprung gymnastics floor, our full-size trampoline, balance beams, and bars, we are able to offer our gymnastics students training in tumbling, as well as equipment as seen in the Olympics.
Hip Hop: Also known as street dance, these classes will teach the latest dance moves as seen on music videos. A great form of exercise that is fun and exciting!
Jazz: Combining classical jazz technique and a more contemporary jazz style, the students will gain strength, technique, and will have fun learning turns, leaps, and stylized combinations.
Jazz/Tap Combo Classes: These classes are offered for students, ages 6 through 9, who are new to jazz and tap. As an introduction class, it is an hour long and is equally divided between teaching jazz and tap technique.
Leaps & Turns: Students will focus on the technical aspects of various leaps and turns. This class will introduce the student to new turns and jumps as well as give them the opportunity to brush up on previously learned skills.
Lyrical: This styles derives from classical jazz technique with an emphasis on balance, flexibility, and control utilizing the mood and lyrics to music. It is encouraged for the student to simulatenously enroll in ballet and jazz.
Mat Pilates: In these classes, the students will gain strength and flexibility through prescribed exercises as designed by the Pilates Method, as well as classes taught by a certified personal trainer.
Parkour / Freerunning: Parkour can best be explained as "hip hop gymnastics." It is also referred to as "Freerunning." It is a form of street gymnastics that also includes elements of martial arts, breakdancing, step dancing, stomp, acro, hip hop, and gymnastics. The main part of Parkour consists of moving the body from one point to another in a smooth, quick and efficient manner through a set of challenging obstacles. We do not recommend doing Parkour in the streets but rather at Dancensations in a safe environment.
Pointe: Pointe is offered to our advanced ballet students and may only be taken by students who are technically and physically strong as deemed by the ballet teacher as it may be physically dangerous to those students not yet ready. This class uses classical ballet technique performed in pointe shoes.

Tap: These classes will focus on a more classical tap vocabulary, such as that of broadway tap. The students will become familiar with tap terminology and will learn how to create rhythms through the sound of their tap shoes.
